Free Non-Vascularized Fibular Graft for Treatment of Pediatric Traumatic Radial Bone Loss: A Case Report

چکیده
UNLABELLED Various methods, such as vascularized bone transfers, Illizarov bone transport, allogenic bone grafts, bone graft substitutes, are available in treating traumatic bone loss. Free non-vascularised fibular graft is an autografting method that only requires minimal facilities or expertise. However, this method is not popularized due to its avascular property and there is not many reports regarding its use in treating a large traumatic bone loss. We reported a case in our center to demonstrate its possibility of successfully treating the traumatic radial bone loss in pediatric patient. Patient had good recovery with the regain of good range of movement of forearm and there is no harvest site morbidity after two years of follow up. KEY WORDS Free non-vascularized fibular graft, pediatric radial bone loss.

MICROSURGICAL TREATMENT OF LONG BONE DEFECTS USING FREE VASCULARIZED FIBULAR TRANSFER
Management of long bone defects occurring in accidents or war injuries is a difficult problem, From 1978 to 1986, 11 patients were treated for long bone defects of the humerus ( 10 cases) and radius (one case), using free vascularized fibular transfer by microsurgical technique .The patients were followed for 4 months and in all of them, selective angiography and scanning revealed exellent...

INTRODUCTION Free vascularized fibular grafts have been widely used for the reconstruction of long bone defects. However, the use of a vascularized tibial graft is precluded by its weight-bearing function and unacceptable donor site morbidity. CASE PRESENTATION We present a rare case of using a vascularized tibia-fibular composite graft taken from a 6-year-old Chinese boy's ipsilateral lower ...

Although various techniques have been described for treatment of severe nose deformities, these problems have high revision rates. Conventional nasal septal surgery may not be adequate for all cases. A 21-year-old male patient with nose deformity underwent a nasal surgery. Patient had both functional and aesthetic nasal problems. Rigid fibular bone graft was used for corrective nasal ...
متن کاملReconstruction of a Severe Open Distal Humerus Fracture With Complete Loss of Medial Column by Using a Free Fibular Osteocutaneous Graft
OBJECTIVE Open intra-articular fractures of the distal humerus can be associated with considerable bone loss and extensive soft tissue damage. The management of these injuries is quite challenging, and the restoration of elbow anatomy may require multiple bone and soft tissue surgical procedures. The purpose of this case report is to present the option of addressing at the same time a complex s...
متن کاملVascularized fibular graft as a surgical option for osteosarcoma of distal humerus: A case report
INTRODUCTION Distal humerus is a very rare predilection site of osteosarcoma. Limb salvage surgery has widely replaced amputation for surgical treatment of most types of malignant bone sarcomas. PRESENTATION OF CASE We presented a 42 years old male with rapidly growing osteosarcoma on his right distal humerus. After induction chemotherapy, wide excision and reconstruction using free vasculari...
